Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

Last updated September 10, 2026

The short version. Almost everything you put into Avela is consumer health data, and reproductive health data especially. This page tells you exactly what health data we collect, where it comes from, why we collect it, and the very short list of services it is shared with to run the app. We do not sell it, ever, and we never share it for advertising. You can see it, correct it, delete it, and withdraw your consent at any time.

This is a companion to our Privacy Policy, written to meet the specific requirements of Washington's My Health My Data Act and similar consumer-health-data laws. Where anything here differs from the general policy, this page governs your health data.

This policy applies to "consumer health data" as defined by Washington's My Health My Data Act (MHMDA), Nevada's SB 370, and comparable state laws. In plain terms, that is information identifying your past, present, or future physical or mental health status. For Avela, this centers on reproductive and fertility health. It is published by Avela Intelligence ("Avela", "we", "us") and applies to everyone who uses the Avela app, regardless of where you live.

1. The consumer health data we collect

Almost everything in your Avela record is consumer health data. Specifically, we collect:

2. Where this data comes from

We do not buy consumer health data, and we do not collect it from data brokers, advertising networks, your device's other apps, or your location.

3. Why we collect it

We collect consumer health data for a single purpose: to provide Avela to you. Concretely, that means storing your fertility record, displaying it back to you, extracting values from documents you upload, and generating the summaries, insights, and appointment briefs you ask for. We do not collect, use, or share your health data for any purpose beyond operating the app, and we will not do so without first asking for your separate, specific consent, which you can decline or later withdraw without losing access to Avela.

4. How your health data is shared

We share consumer health data only with the infrastructure providers that run Avela, and only so they can perform that function on our behalf. Each is contractually limited to processing your data for Avela and cannot use it for its own purposes. This is the complete list:

WhoHealth data sharedWhy
Supabase (database & storage)Your full record and uploaded documentsTo store your data in an encrypted, per-user-isolated database and file store
Netlify (hosting & functions)Portions of your record in transit during processingTo host the app and run the secure functions that pass data to our AI provider; temporary processing files are deleted as soon as results are delivered
Anthropic (AI provider)The parts of your record needed for a given featureTo extract values from your documents and generate insights and briefs; Anthropic does not use this data to train its models

There are no other recipients. We do not share consumer health data with advertisers, data brokers, analytics companies, insurers, employers, or affiliates, because we have none of those relationships. If we ever need to add a provider that would handle your health data, we will update this page and tell you in the app before it starts. See our Privacy Policy for how long Anthropic retains what it processes.

5. We do not sell your health data

We do not sell consumer health data, and we will not. Under MHMDA, selling consumer health data requires your separate, written, revocable authorization that meets the law's specific requirements. We do not seek that authorization because selling your data is not part of our business and never will be.

6. Your rights over your health data

For your consumer health data, you have the right to:

You can act on most of these yourself from the Account tab: Download my data gives you a complete, readable copy of your record, and Delete account permanently removes your account and everything in it right away, including your health data. You can also delete individual cycles and documents inside the app at any time. For anything you cannot do yourself, including access requests you would like us to fulfill, deletion when you cannot reach your account, or withdrawing consent, email ashley@avelaintelligence.com from your account email. We will confirm your identity, respond as the applicable law requires, and complete deletions within 30 days, usually much sooner. If we decline a request, we will explain why and how you can appeal.

7. No geofencing

Avela does not use your location. We do not operate any geofence around a health facility, and we never will.

8. If Avela is ever acquired

If Avela is ever part of a merger, acquisition, or other change of control, your consumer health data does not become an asset to be handed over freely. We will notify you before any transfer, the commitments in this policy travel with the data and bind any successor, and you will have the opportunity to delete your data first. See the change-of-control section of our Privacy Policy for the full commitment.
